Gonzalez Hall UP Diliman Main Library Part 04

so what was a bloke to do? persist. i drove towards GONZALEZ HALL - the University of the Philippines main library in the hopes that some enterprising vendor has some secret stash he'll be willing to part with given the right motivation, but alas, same story.

while contemplating my options, i took this picture of GONZALEZ HALL aka the UP Diliman Main Library. the original oblation (pahinungod) by tolentino is stashed inside this building. i'm not so sure if students even bother coming here anymore, one can tell from how the building is maintained that it has seen better days both figuratively and literally.

lol. reminds me of UPCAT.

while loitering about Gonzalez Hall i noticed cigarette butts. here's my way of thinking, if i keep myself on the lookout, i'll hopefully find a trashcan or a heap of trash with cigarette butts and used-up packs of cigarette with some sort of label or receipt where it was bought! it's a long shot but right now it's the only idea i have since i've already asked around and i keep getting the same blank stare as if i'm some sort of crazy person.

University of the Philippines, UP Chapel Grounds Part 03

kidding aside, i stopped over the University of the Philippines Campus church looking for cigarettes. turns out that during my absence, some slacker decided that it's best if smoking within UP Diliman was proactively discouraged. imagine my panic, i've heard reports that the ratio of gay slackers versus straight men in the campus has increased to a point that it rivals gamorrah - but no selling of cigarettes?! unacceptable!

UP Parish of the Holy Sacrifice Part 02

first stop is the University of the Philippines Diliman Campus Church - The UP Diliman Parish of the Holy Sacrifice - i'm catholic so sue me. my mother never fails to remind me, "everything begins with a prayer and ends with a prayer", take that darwin's theory of evolution.

Philippines State University, UP Diliman Part 01

my parents' house is near the University of the Philippines Diliman Campus, it would be quite fair to say that i spent a good portion of my life growing up in the Diliman Campus, which is roughly around the neighborhood of twenty years or so. this goes without saying that i've literally seen most of the changes and transformations the university campus underwent from the early 80's during its academic brilliance's peak both inside and outside of the four corners of the classroom through the late 90's which probably signaled the beginning of hampered thinking. consider what my parents have to say, given that they still live and work in UP Diliman - i rest my case.

since i've been living independently for roughly a decade now and decided to take up residence in makati, i programmed myself to drop by my parents house during sundays and holidays; sometimes to take them out shopping and have a nice dinner. it dawned on me at one point that somehow i kind of miss the old  Diliman campus; so i pocketed my trusty nokia E72 gassed-up the BMW E34 and burned some rubber, UP was on semestral break after all. my objective was to revisit my backyard university and check the low-down on my childhood playgrounds and hopefully reach some sort of epiphany in the process.

MOA, SM Expo, Domination Ends Part 06

several hours later the crowd starts pouring in and this continues until 11pm; no rest for the wicked!

after wrapping up the machines, tallying the log files, program results and writing up the summary report, it's finally time to go home. sure as hell tired, but now that it's late, i'm sure i'd be able to floor my way home. peace.

Mall of Asia, Manila Part 02

here is 135 degrees worth of panoramic shot inside the complex still using the nokia E72. a rich ambient light pool does affect the stitching software's performance.

this is a pretty big venue; egames'es domination event boasts of the largest turnout of pre-registered and walk-in guests for SMX and it's held twice a year. the branding and sponsorship the event receives should speak for itself.

same spot, about two hours later. by this time, the crew was testing the acoustics and the performance stage in the center, roughly ten hours before the event officially starts.

while waiting for the electrical facilities group to allocate power into the pre-registered reception booth i decided to take a cigarette break and check on the e34. i am mulling-over buying high intensity discharge kits for the beemer and setting it up myself, i already have a circuit board diagram to bypass the sensitive high-beam detection module, so it's just a matter of time.

Shoe Mart Trade Show, Manila Part 01

heading out to moa (mall of asia) isn't something i look forward to; the flow of traffic from makati to taft avenue on a saturday isn't really popular for lead footed driving not to mention flooring an m60 engine. i'm not so crazy about using the fort bonifacio route as well given that they've imposed a 40KM top speed which is another money making instrument devised by ever-so-untrustworthy-always-scheming-and-super-unreliable "uber-hypocrites"; i swear i saw a worm metamorphose into a butterfly while driving there once. Anyway, a friend later told me that i should have taken the route through buendia, so note-to-self: when going to moa take buendia.

on with the narrative. i needed to go to moa, specifically to SMX, to help out and see to it that the 3D bar-coding system is set up properly; megamobile manages all mobile-to-internet related functions and subsystems that interfaces the consumer, in this case the player, to all of egames' titles. that sounds big on paper but what we really do is give gamers alternative ways of accessing game related services such as account validation and messaging; most of the real work is done by the passionate crew of egames itself.

arriving at around 5pm i proceeded to taking a panoramic shot of SMX; standing on this very spot, surrounded by the the moa complex and a cathedral on the left near the notorious and questionably expensive macapagal boulevard; i can't imagine this was all one big body of sea water a decade ago.

here's another shot. both were taken using a nokia E72. i just wanted to take note here that somehow, maybe due to the lack of ambient light the software on the E72 is having some trouble distinguishing the edges where it should make the blend and thus fail to make a seamless soft-merge. maybe they can improve this on their next version of either the software or the phone series
